AID (Anglicans in Development) Visit to ADSE

Kyumbuke Community based organization and the Kiangini Development Community based organization privileged to host Dr. Julianne Stewart of Anglicans in Development (AID) in Kyua and Kiangini locations of Machakos and Makueni Counties. In Kyua, Dr. Julianne met with the local administration, clergy person from ACK Kyua and Kisesini, the Kyumbuke CBO community members, Wendano wa Kyua Special group and commissioned the Kisesini community borehole. The Wendano wa Kyua special group is composed of People Living with Disability (PWLD) and they have been supported with goats to help them improve income with their households.

In Kiangini Location, Dr. Julianne paid a courtesy call to Bishop Francis Matui of Makueni Diocese, interacted with the Project Management Committee members, Self Help Groups, Kyunyu Farmers Group, Kiteei beekeepers and crowned the visit by commissioning the Mutini Water Project. The groups exhibited the necklaces, mats, baskets and bead work. The Kyunyu water project: a sump tank project with irrigation farm. Dr. Julianne interacted with the members who had planted Kales and spinach and the sales made are used to buy more farm inputs and the surplus divided among the members.

The Kiteei bee keepers that produces pure honey explained the whole process from apiary establishment to packaging and noted to be among the value chains which has high returns. She was impressed by the progress made with the group and encouraged them to work towards certification by the Kenya Bureau of Standards.
